Winemaker Notes
This is a rock-star vintage from the Francis Vineyard, delivering all the elegance for which our vineyard in the Combsville AVA is famous. The nose of the 2019 Southern Roots Cabernet Sauvignon is everything you expect from California cabernet: hints of cassis, new leather, dark berries, and cracked black pepper. The delightful mouthfeel feeds the mid-palate which plays off the wine's aromas with black cherry, red licorice, and cedar as the stars with a supporting cast of expresso beans and rich boysenberry.  The lingering finish features hints of white chocolate, mint, and ripe plums. While the wine is drinking beautifully now, the fine, silky tannins that are balanced by bright, food-friendly acidity,  will ensure this wine age will age beautifully through 2035.
