95 Points Vinous
Brilliant scarlet. Intensely perfumed aromas of raspberry preserves, cherry and candied rose, plus a hint of exotic spices in the background. Densely packed and alluringly sweet, showing silky texture and a smoky mineral undertone to the sappy, finally detailed red and dark berry, cherry cola and molasses cake flavors. Gaines breadth and power on the back half while maintaining the lithe character. Polished tannins fold smoothly into juicy, expressive fruit on the strikingly long, seamless finish, which empathetically repeats the floral and spice notes. Old-timer Rollin Soles has made lots of impressive wines over the past several decades, but this might be the best one that I've yet tried.
93 Points Wine Enthusiast
From the estate Wits' End Vineyard, this barrel selection reserve rings the bell with a lush palate mixing rich strawberry, pomegranate and watermelon fruit flavors with ample toast and char from just 12% new French oak. Though not the ripest vintage, the fruit has been deftly handled here, and overall the wine punches through with reserve-level power.
Winemaker Notes
IMPACT! This estate grown Pinot Noir exhibits layers of blackberry, and deep blue plum fruit with hints of spices like cardamom, cocoa nib and a bit of Kola nut. This opulent wine has unique gravelly-velvet tannins and rich, dark fruit. You’ll want to stash it away to enjoy for years to come.
