93 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Packaged in 1,800 precious 375-milliliter bottles, the organic Feudo Montoni NV Passito Bianco is made with air-dried Grillo (80%) and Catarratto grapes (20%). It aged in wood for seven months. This pretty Sicilian dessert wine opens to dark golden color with bright amber highlights. The bouquet is exuberant and loud, with white raisin, honey, apricot and maple syrup. Those dried grape skin aromas from the appassimento process are the most pronounced. This is a luscious, full-bodied dessert wine.
93 Points Vinous
The NV Feudo Montoni Bianco Passito blends Grillo and Catarratto to create a seductively tropical and exotic bouquet. Blood orange, candied ginger, peach preserves, mint and a hint of citrusy juniper waft up from the glass. It’s deeply textural and weighty yet also nicely balanced, contrasting both savory and sweet throughout with perfumed inner florals and salty minerals, mixing with ultra-ripe mango and hints of papaya. While long and staining, this leaves the palate remarkably fresh, blending an assortment of dried fruits with hazelnut richness and hints of coconut. There is so much pleasure to be found in this glass.
Winemaker Notes
On the nose, this intense wine offers distinct notes of apricot and candied orange peel. Notes of date weave with fresh aromas of sage and calamint, with a finish of tobacco and of hydrocarbon. On the palate it expresses remarkable acidity that is well-balanced with the sweetness.
