92 Points Decanter

From old vines planted in 1971, this is a Hyland Vineyard original. Classic darker notes of the older vines in the Willamette the Hyland Estates bottling is gracefully opulent. Aromas of blue and ripe red berry fruits subtly turned earth, singed rose petals, and a touch of black tea. The palate is a melange of intense dark bramble berries, tart Montmorency cherries and a finish of savoury chicory root.

92 Points Vinous

The 2022 Pinot Noir Old Vine Estate opens with a mentholated freshness, displaying shavings of pine, mint leaf and dried cherries. Juicy and round, it flows across the palate with ease, mixing red and blue fruits under an air of violet florals. This leaves a spicy sensation, its tart wild berry fruits offset by a tinge of sour citrus through the gently tannic finale.

92 Points & A Cellar Selection Wine Enthusiast

Made with grapes from own-rooted vines that are over a half-century old, this estate wine leads with orange-peel and cherry aromas that complement savory notes of iodine and rare steak. A tasty ripe cherry and graham cracker dust combination is backed by chewy tannins. Enjoy 2024–2035.

91 Points James Suckling

A playful pinot with notes of cherries, red plums and herbs. It’s medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Silky and juicy with good drinkability and a mellow, agreeable finish.

91 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Youthfully ruby-hued, the 2022 Pinot Noir Old Vine Estate offers a bit more depth on the nose, with notes of baking spice, mixed berries, and sweet herbs. Medium-bodied, with a broader shouldered structure, it’s weightless and floats on the palate with ripe tannins and a clean finish. It’s approachable now but should hold up well over the coming 5-6 years.

Winemaker Notes

Pronounced aromas of red cherries intertwined with layers of spice and a subtle hint of black tea. A fragrant herbal element adds depth, harmonizing with an abundance of sweet, ripe fruits. The palate reveals fine-grained tannins with a delightful interplay of blackcurrants and a touch of plum, underscored by a peppery spice that lends a delightful kick. Wild bramble and a gentle infusion of baking spices linger on the finish.
