Winemaker Notes
The picturesque Robertson Valley is nestled between two rugged mountain ranges near the Breede River. It was here that the De Wet family purchased a large tract of land in 1859, subsequently channeling the river and planting the region's first vineyards. Today the estate is owned by Freddie and Peter De Wet, fourth and fifth generation family members. This sustainable, vegan-friendly blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot delivers a lot of bang for the buck but could use about 15-30 minutes of air.
We get dark berry fruit on the nose of blackberries, cherries, and plum with the classic earthy smokey spice of the area.
Food Ideas:Steak and potatoes, veggie burrito, cider-braised rutabaga and leeks, shepard's pie, lentil salad over greens.
