94 Points James Suckling

A supple texture shapes abundant black and red fruit in this well-concentrated, polished and composed wine. A full body and suede-textured tannins give it a nice heft on the palate. Drink or hold.

Magenta-hued, the 2021 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve leads with oak spice notes as well as raspberry preserve, baking spice, cedar, and cola. It’s ripe throughout, with tasty spices lasting through the finish and a supple, pliant feel. These are ripe wines, no doubt, but they are well-made and should hold up over the next 8-10 years.

93 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2021 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve was matured for 16 months in 55% new oak. It opens with broody tar and forest floor aromas before revealing brighter tones of raspberry jam, cinnamon and blood orange. The light-bodied palate features concentrated, savory red fruit framed by silky tannins and bright acidity, and it has a very long, spicy finish.

93 Points Wine Enthusiast

The aromas coming from this glass of wine are as clean and fresh as wintertime alpine air, with lilacs and wet stones encircling a bushel of ripe blackberries and a handful of lemons. The wine's black-cherry, cola and citrus flavors are backed by soft acidity and somewhat chewy tannins.

92 Points Vinous

The 2021 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve is decidedly savory with a lovely blend of sage and shaved cedar complicating wild strawberries. It floods the palate with juicy textures and rich red berries propelled by vibrant acidity. Already wonderfully approachable, the 2021 Evenstad Reserve leaves an air of violet and lavender lingering over a coating of primary concentration as a web of fine-grained tannins adds a classically dry sensation. The 2021 aims to please while remaining wonderfully balanced throughout. 50% new French oak.

Winemaker Notes

The 2021 Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir is a refreshing and elegant vintage. It's made from 100% estate-grown grapes and has a silky texture that's perfect for pairing with poultry or duck confit. The nose offers rose petals, wild strawberry, strawberry candy, confectionary, Italian fine leather, and hibiscus. On the palate, it's maraschino cherry sweet with a light body and lifted tannins. It finishes with a lovely blueberry compote and velvety texture that lingers long after the last sip.
