The 2022 Pinot Noir Silver Eagle is bursting with dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs. A potent, muscular Pinot, the Silver Eagle is superb. The blend of clones - Vosne-Romanee, Calera, and Swan - along with the personality of the site, yields one of the darker, broader Pinots in Rivers-Marie range. A dollop of whole clusters (15%) and firm tannins add to an impression of gravitas. This is impressive juice.
Winemaker Notes
The 2022 vintage Pinot Noir is a stunning wine offering expressive red and orange fruit aromas with balanced structure. The vineyard resides in a cool section of the western Sonoma Coast near the town of Occidental. Calera clone of Pinot Noir forms the foundation of this wine, with Pommard and a suitcase Vosne-Romanée clone blended in. It offers extraordinary depth and complexity. We only made 250 cases, so allocations are limited.
