98.5% Cabernet, 1.5% Merlot Aged for 16 Months in 40% New French Oak
95 Points James Suckling
A solid 2021 Cab with blackcurrant, blackberry and wet earth character on both the nose and palate. It’s medium- to full-bodied with firm tannins. Linear and lightly chewy finish. Some graphite. Drinkable now, but even better in three or four years.
Winemaker Notes
From the high elevations and volcanic soils of Diamond and Howell Mountain to the alluvial soils and warmer weather of Yountville, Rutherford, and Stags, this wine is the perfect marriage of the contrasting styles each vineyard offers.
Deep and polished with plum, fresh cherry and marionberry with touches of cassis and clove. Vibrant red fruits layered with dried sage and cedar. Full and steadfast, its bright acidity is balanced by well-integrated tannins, with a hint of cocoa and earth on the finish.
