#13 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2024
95 Points Wine Spectator
The core of cherry, pomegranate and raspberry fruit is detailed with Tuscan scrub, iron, vanilla and tobacco notes as this intense red builds in power to the expansive conclusion, where its fruit, mineral and wild herb flavors converge. Shows fine balance and length; this just needs time to absorb the oak.
93 Points Vinous
The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva shows the pedigree of this important vintage in its complex, multi-faceted personality. A wine of nuance and layers, the 2021 has so much to offer. Black cherry, leather, spice, tobacco, menthol, licorice and game are all amplified in this super-classic Riserva from Fèlsina.
93 Points James Suckling
A well-composed, balanced and refined riserva with aromas of cherries, dried thyme, bark and warm spices. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Dense and textured on the palate, with fine structure and poise. Focused and well defined, with a long, flavorful, vivid finish.
93 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
In a bottle with a black label, the Fèlsina 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardenga shows an open-knit quality with soft fruit flavors of dark cherry and baked plum. Those fruit flavors are followed by pretty mineral notes and light spice. That openness and those sweet cherry flavors are characteristic of the warm 2020 growing season. The wine finishes with bright acidity that is typical of Sangiovese.
Winemaker Notes
Ruby red, with fine tonality and intensity. Spicy nose with notes of blossoms, wild berries, and mineral tones. Notes of spice and crisp fruit on the palate, with self-confident but supple tannins, and impressive structure and breed.
